But the Hockenheimring is much more than just a race track. As a multifunctional event location, it offers the perfect setting for driver training sessions, product presentations, conferences, workshops and unforgettable incentives. Even Germany's largest open-air concerts have found an impressive stage here.

FIA Grade 1 certification

FIA Grade 1 certification is the highest possible licence for racetracks and a prerequisite for hosting Formula 1 races. It means that the Hockenheimring Grand Prix circuit fulfils the strictest safety and technical requirements of the FIA.

What has changed? Hockenheimring with new asphalt!

The Hockenheimring was given a comprehensive makeover at the beginning of the year. The RAVENOL curve, the Bernie Ecclestone curve, the curve in front of the east grandstand and the south curve as well as the pit lane were given new, high-quality asphalt.

Perfect planning for maximum grip

The planning of this large-scale project took eight months, during which everything had to fit together - from the weather and the availability of the asphalt columns to the special material composition. This was because the new asphalt had to fulfil the extreme requirements of a race track, which go far beyond normal road construction standards. To ensure that the new surface would last in the long term, core drillings were carried out before the asphalt was laid to determine the causes of previous cracking. The data obtained was used to develop a customised asphalt mix that can withstand the high shear forces of the racetrack.

Data & facts about the track renewal

Sections: Turns 1, 2/3, 8, 16 plus pit lane

Turbo for the lap times

The transitions from the old to the new asphalt were perfectly implemented using state-of-the-art machine technology so that no disruptions in driving behaviour are to be expected. In fact, lap times are expected to improve by around 0.3 to 0.5 seconds per lap.

Modernisation around the pits

In addition to the aforementioned resurfacing in the pit lane, the floor in the pits themselves has been completely renewed. The tent roof of the pit area was also modernised. Another highlight: the roof of the Sachs-Haus was renovated and given a stylish roof terrace, which also offers additional space for events.

Upgrade for the Hotel Motodrom

The Hotel Motodrom has really picked up speed: 27 rooms have been completely refurbished and now offer modern comfort at the highest level. New air conditioning technology, larger bathrooms and improved insulation not only ensure greater comfort, but also more sustainability. The motorsport theme is picked up on by stylish pictures in the rooms.
