In perfect spring weather, the three Manthey drivers kicked off the new season at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. After the first pit stops and the mandatory tire change, Preining and Güven were initially in fourth and seventh place. Schuring gained one position in the pit lane. These positions – fourth (#91), seventh (#90), and sixteenth (#92) – held until the finish line.
Sunday’s race delivered excitement until the very end: Morris Schuring finished 17th. The decisive position changes occurred in the final ten minutes of the race. Thomas Preining overtook both René Rast (Germany) and Jordan Pepper (South Africa) to secure third place. Ayhancan Güven extended his lead significantly – pulling away from Frenchman Jules Gounon by around four seconds to claim a commanding victory.
The second DTM weekend at the Lausitzring also ended with points. On Saturday, Güven and Preining again finished in the Top Ten. Morris Schuring had to retire early after an incident not of his own making. On Sunday, Thomas Preining was forced to retire after contact on the opening lap. However, Schuring scored his first DTM points on Sunday, while Güven’s 14th-place finish ensured a double points result.
KÜS congratulates the team from Meuspath on these achievements. “KÜS and Manthey have enjoyed a long-standing technology partnership,” emphasizes KÜS Managing Director Peter Schuler. “Many innovations are first proven in motorsport before they are used in production vehicles. It's a partnership with many synergy effects.”
This close connection is also visually striking: the KÜS-branded Porsche with its distinctive green-yellow livery – affectionately known as “Grello” – has achieved cult status among many fans. “We’re especially pleased about that,” says Peter Schuler. Like the Managing Director himself, the KÜS testing engineers working across Germany truly have “petrol in their veins.”
