- Georg, next year you will be celebrating a milestone anniversary with the Pistenclub. But not everyone has been a member for as long as you have, so could you please introduce yourself briefly.
- I'm happy to do that. My name is Georg Hegenauer, I'm 58 years old and I come from Aichach. For those who don't know my home town: Aichach is located in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia and has a little over 22,000 inhabitants. As a rough guide, you can locate the city between Ingolstadt and Augsburg.
- We already said that you are celebrating a round anniversary next year. How long have you been a member of the Pistenclub?
- I have been a member of the Pistenclub since 2005. So in 2025 I will have been a member for 20 years. I have to honestly admit that I have never regretted being part of the Pistenclub for a single day. It's just always fun and the camaraderie is great.
- In the almost two decades that you have been with us, you have been to many race tracks. Do you still remember your first one?
- How could I forget? The first race track I drove on was the Hockenheimring. I still remember the feeling of speeding around the corners back then. Over the years, I have got to know many other tracks as well. And I have to admit: I go there quite often. When I think about it, I go to at least ten events a year.
- Someone who knows as many tracks as you do must have a favourite.
- I could say it's the Hockenheimring because I drove there for the first time, but it's not. My favourite race track is in Italy. I love going to Mugello. But I experienced my sporting highlight outside of Europe. Last year I took part in the 24-hour race in Dubai. It was an unforgettable experience.
- There must be a reason why you have been around for almost two decades. What do you like about the Pistenclub?
- You offer a wide range of track days for little money. This makes it possible for everyone to live and experience the hobby of racing and cars. The wide range of track days on offer allows you to get to know many different tracks. And of course you also have a great time and make memories away from the track. And you get around. But I also have a suggestion: maybe you could offer more Open Pitlane dates!
- What was your first car, by the way?
- That was a Porsche 996 GT3. I still remember it well. It was also the car I took out on a racetrack for the first time. That's something you never forget. I'm still a big fan of the brand today. In fact, I also own a Porsche 991 Cup. Other than adjusting the suspension, I haven't made any modifications.
Thank you for the interview and see you soon on the track!
