Hello Markus! You've been a guest at so many events that most of our regular guests already know you. Please introduce yourself briefly for everyone.
Markus Wang: My name is Markus, I'm 60 years old and I come from Dülmen in the beautiful Münsterland region.
Anyone who doesn't regularly attend our events but often browses through the photo albums on our website will certainly recognise your car. You were one of the first people to turn up at the Pistenclub with the model.
Yes, since last year I have been able to drive my dream car, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS from the 992 series, on the race track.
What makes your car so special and why do many of our participants recognise it?
It's probably because of the eye-catching livery. I had the red-painted car decorated with some gold design elements. Technically, however, the car is normal - if you can call it normal at all - i.e. standard. I only had the suspension set up for the racetrack. So I can still drive the car on the road occasionally.
Is the GT3 RS the first car you've driven on the track?
No, my first kilometres on the racetrack were in a Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabrio, which was my first real sports car.
And what are your favourite tracks to let off steam on?
My absolute favourite track is the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, because it is very varied and generally offers a great atmosphere as well as lots of fast corners. Spa was also my first event with the Pistenclub. I enjoyed it so much that I've now been a member for six years. After Spa, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, Zandvoort and Mugello are my highlights on the calendar.
That's quite a lot of circuits. How many events do you drive in a year?
I do twelve to 15 track days a year. I think my record season was 2023 with almost 6000 track kilometres.
That's really impressive. Then you seem to like it here with us.
In any case. You offer a wide range of trackdays on many different tracks in Europe. I also like the fact that there are never too many cars on the track, so you can do your laps in a very relaxed way. The comprehensive briefing, which I can now almost memorise, also ensures good interaction on the track. The good organisation and family atmosphere is also a plus. But my highlight is the circle of friends that has developed from riding with the piste club.
We are very pleased to hear that. Can you also be found on racetracks outside of our trackdays?
Yes, I also drive for other organisers from time to time. I also enjoy watching a racing event from time to time. In the nineties, for example, I was able to see Michael Schumacher in action at the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. That was a great experience, which I also enjoyed from the grandstand.
Thank you for the interview. We'll see you on the track again soon.
