To provide you with important information such as e.g. end of the driving time, a broken-down vehicle on the track or possible loss of grip due to contamination on the route, there are track marshals around the route equipped with colored flags. The Pistenclub orients itself on the flag signals that are common in motorsport. All flag signals are shown and explained in the drivers' briefing on the day of the event. Here, we have summarized all information about the flag signals for you.
Flag | Location | Meaning |
---|---|---|
![]() | Start / Finish | Chequered flag
|
![]() | Start / Finish Track marshal points to affected vehicle | Black flag
|
![]() | Entire track | Red flag / Red signal lights
|
![]() | Entire track | Yellow flag / Yellow signal lights
Double waved flags
Full Course Yellow
Full Course Yellow is only used on some courses and marked with the signal "FCY". |
![]() | Entire track | Green flag
Depending on the situation, the green flag can be omitted - if you have passed a very obvious danger spot, you can continue driving and overtaking even without the green flag. At the start of the first session, the green flag is usually shown to signal to all participants where the track marshals are located. |
![]() | Entire track | Blue flag
In contrast to road traffic, at our events there is no right-hand drive requirement, i.e. overtaking is allowed on both the right and left. On some Italian racetracks the blue flags are very dark and can easily be confused with the black flag. If you have any doubts, please note that the black flag is only shown on the start and finishing straight. |
![]() | Entire track | White flag
|
![]() | Entire track | Red-and-yellow-striped flag
The red-and-yellow striped flag is only an indication, the speed does not need not be reduced. |
