As the 35 time venue of the Grand Prix of Germany, the Hockenheimring looks back on a long history. Already in 1932, Mercedes-Benz used a 12 kilometer triangular course in Hockenheim as a test course before it was transformed into a permanent circuit six years later. In the 1960s, the construction of the Autobahn 6 separated the former hairpin turn from the rest of the route. A motordrome was built as an alternative, which resembles an arena and still exists today. Besides numerous spectator seats, the facility also accommodates the pit lane. After extensive reconstruction measures between 1999 and 2003, the distance of the formerly 6.8 kilometer long high-speed course was shortened to a 4.5 kilometer Grand Prix course with modern safety standards. In addition to spacious run-off areas, the new route offers fast passages and thus guarantees exciting overtaking maneuvers. Renowned racing series, including the Formula 1, DTM and sport auto Tuner GP, are proof of the Hockenheimring’s allure as a venue. The events at the Hockenheimring traditionally represent the start and the end of our season. A Pistenclub Trackday Hockenheimring offers you the opportunity to drive your own car on a true Formula 1 circuit.
